Colorful Choices!

Some staff members had the chance to check out the new floor at the site and talk to the architect about interior and exterior color choices. Mrs. Garran even got to "sit" at her desk!

Now for something a little more concrete...

After months of demolition, back filling, leveling, and all of that "minute" construction stuff that ensures our chairs don't all slide to one corner of our classrooms, we move on to making the inside look like a school. This week, the concrete floor was poured. Very exciting news because now we can move forward quickly with the rest of the project. Stay tuned for more frequent posts from here on out.

Reuse and Repurpose! Saving the seats!

What do you do when you inherit over 800 movie theater seats that are bolted to the floor? Do you pay to have them dumped in a landfill? Not if you are the Cape Cod Lighthouse Charter School! Instead of adding to the mountains of waste on this planet, we gathered alumni, staff, family and friends to a "seat-loosening" party. Everyone came armed with drills and screw guns and knee pads and worked all day to unbolt every seat from the concrete. Then, throughout the week, different groups and individuals came and took some seats, repurposing them for use in other theaters or in their homes. Some are still waiting to go into an on-site trailer (special thanks to Bruce MacGregor for donating the trailer). If you want any, come and get them!
